This stave chair was created by Brian Petersen in 2006 from wine barrel wood and a leaf spring from a heavy truck.

Wine Barrel Art is the re-purposing of wine barrel parts to make signs, furnishings and decor, or anything useful that includes beautiful white oak wood. The galvanized metal hoops can be useful also in creating many different things.

The wood comprising the sides of a barrel are called staves. The flat top and bottom are called heads. Wine barrels are made with white oak wood from the United States or France.

Barrel craftsmen are called coopers and they are highly respected.

Working barrel wood after it has been used and infused with wine is a pleasurable experience in itself.
